Sophia gets two containers every day for her lunch at the toddler room. Each container is divided in two, so she gets four items every day. I try to do one protein, one carb, one vegetable and one fruit, but I will admit that I don’t always follow my own rule. During the winter is not as easy to get good fruits, although some frozen blueberries have helped, and some days she seems to be so hungry that I might do two proteins or two carbs to make sure she has enough. However, every day she will get at least one protein and at least one fruit or vegetable.
I think of those two containers as a breakfast and a lunch, so usually one of them contains breakfast foods and the other lunch foods – although again, just a guideline that I don’t always follow, but sometimes help me in narrowing down my options when trying to figure out how to fill her containers.
Here are some examples of the containers I have sent, and hope that they give you some new ideas on things to send.
Whole-grain pancakes with pecans. Raspberries
Oatmeal cooked with applesauce and sprinkled with chia sees. Strawberries and blueberries
Sautéed cauliflower. Meatloaf.
Steamed broccoli. Baked salmon.
