Applesauce Cider Palooza

The middle school class loves to cook. We made applesauce because we wanted a quick snack, which took longer than we thought to cook.

We got our ingredients together. 27 apples, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, and 5 1/4 cups water. We also got our tools together, apple cutters, knives, peelers, measuring cups and spoons, cutting boards, crock pot, and spoons/ladles.

First we rinsed our apples.

We started to peel/murder apples.

We used the apple cutter to turn the apples into slices then we chopped them to smaller pieces so that they would cook faster.

We put the apples in the crock pot, and ate a few. Hey, hungry kids have to eat. We measured out our cinnamon, water, and sugar. We poured the water, cinnamon, and sugar into the crockpot and turned it on high to cook.

We let the apples cook until. A student thought that the apples were ready, despite others protest, and tried to mash up hard apples. He was happy so i guessed it worked out for him.

We turned the crockpot back on and let the apples cook some more. Once the apples were finally cooked we mashed up the apples with a ladle and a fork.

Once we were done we served some homemade apple cider

The next day we served our yummy, chunky, homemade applesauce!
