Pickle Recipe

This summer we started a garden at our new home in Richmond. We grew cucumbers and had a great time turning them into pickles to send in for lunch at Central. August got to help plant the cucumbers, watch them grow, make the pickles, and enjoy them in her lunch one day at school. Here are some images from the steps from garden to lunchtime, and the very easy recipe is below.

Our garden in progress.
A flower in our garden than will grow into a cucumber.
Cucumber success!
Pickles in the jar!
Pickles in August’s lunchbox, headed to Central.

1/2 cup cider vinegar

1 tbsp Sherry Vinegar

1/2 cup water

1 tbsp salt

1 tbsp black peppercorns

1 1/2 tsp dried onions

1 tsp fennel seeds

3 tbsp sugar

2 cloves of garlic

As many sliced cucumbers as will fit in the jar!

Place in Fridge overnight and enjoy the next day!

  1. Beautiful pictures! Great to see a garden turn from dirt to cucumbers to pickles! Thank you so much for sharing, wish I had room for a garden so I could make my own cukes!
